Last week, Cheryl Cole made her first public appearance in weeks at a party in Cannes.
She'd gone into hiding at LA's Sunset Marquis hotel after it emerged Ashley Cole wooed four girls while trying to win her back.
The first was lingerie model Jessyca Rayanne, 28, who revealed the love rat begged her to send him naked pictures.
Then Collette McBarron, 26, admitted to spending the night with him.
Virgin Atlantic air hostess Kerry Meades, 29, also claims she slept with Ash - and, as we reported last week, that was around the time he was also with I'm A Celebrity contestant Kayla Collins, 24.
So far Ashley, 30, managed to convince Cheryl, 28, not to ditch him, claiming his actions shouldn't be seen as cheating because they weren't together.
But now Simon Cowell's back in contact with Cheryl, he's panicking that the Syco boss will talk her out of a reunion.
‘Ashley's aware that Simon's a huge influence on Cheryl,' says our source. ‘She's always respected his opinion and he helped her get over her marriage split.
'He's fully aware Simon isn't his biggest fan. Ashley's fed up of being left in limbo.
'He's been waiting for her to give them the go-ahead on going public with their romance, but he's terrified Simon will convince her to dump him for good.'
